Bungie’s Destiny 2 Director Luke Smith to Deliver PAX West 2017 Keynote

Destiny 2 game director Luke Smith will deliver the opening “Storytime” keynote at PAX West 2017, taking place Sept. 1-4 in Seattle, WA.

Smith joined Bungie in 2007, two years after publishing a feature titled “Broken Halo: Five Ways Bungie Can Fix Halo 2” during his time as News Editor at 1UP.com. Since then, he has worked on Halo: Reach and Destiny as a systems designer, in addition to acting as the lead designer for Destiny‘s raids and the creative director for both Destiny: The Taken Kingand Destiny 2.

Additional panels taking place at PAX West 2017 include Gearbox Software’s “Inside Gearbox,” Monolith Soft’s “Middle Earth: Shadow of War,” and CD Projekt RED’s “Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of The Witcher.” A full schedule of panels taking place at the show can be found here. Gamers unable to attend PAX West 2017 can watch panels live on Twitch.

PAX West 2017 will also feature a wealth of exhibitors, including Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Bethesda, Bandai Namco, and other major publishers, in addition to an array of well-known and up-and-coming independent developers showcasing their latest projects in the expo halls.

The full lineup of companies exhibiting at PAX West 2017 can be found on the Guidebook App later today.

PAX West 2017 is sold out and Media registration is closed.

“Luke Smith has been around the block, and I can’t wait to pick his brain about it,” said Jerry Holkins, co-founder, Penny Arcade. “I’m also going to see if they need writers over there at Bungie, because I’ve written a lot of fan fiction under various pseudonyms and I’ve got a ton of great ideas.”

Founded in 2004, PAX West connects leading game developers directly to gamers, providing a space where gaming culture is celebrated through panels, demos, concerts, tournaments and free play sessions. The PAX series of shows – now including West, East, South, Australia and Unplugged – produced by ReedPOP in conjunction with Penny Arcade, comprise some of the world’s largest gaming festivals, with each event entertaining tens of thousands of guests.
