Now come on, when a game has an “Undead spokesman” for a game you know it’s going to be pure awesomeness. Sega’s latest release for Xbox 360 Kinect Rise Of Nightmares offers just that, nightmares and more. Rise of Nightmares heightens the horror experience like never before, forcing you to use your whole body against your enemies.  Using cutting-edge technology, you will be trapped in a nightmare-world of zombies, monsters and hellish scientists – the only way out is to fight

Most gamers today jumped on to grab the Kinect when it was released and let’s face it, Kinect hasn’t had to many games that you really want to play, but Sega answered that calling and gave us a M rated game that is worth playing.

While vacationing in Eastern Europe, your wife is kidnapped by a ruthless madman. Lost and alone, you must follow his deadly trail of rotting corpses and body parts into a hellish world overrun with the walking dead. Stab, slice, gouge and mutilate the vicious undead henchmen with axes, chainsaws and even your bare fists. In an all-out fight for your survival. Her life hangs in the balance of it all. Only you can save your wife from a fate worse than death.

For a Kinect game it surprisingly has great control and responds amazingly for a full out controlled Kinect game. Most games we have tried at the office have been sluggish and very slow responding and a few seconds of delay. Sega seem to have found the right sweet spot to get rid of all that and lower the frustration level with lack of response time from the game.

With different weapons and ways to make your way through each level with chainsaws, axes and more to hack and slash you way the game seems to never get old or dull with each play through its always new and fresh. Of course with EVERY Kinect game you get glitches and these really can’t be blamed on the publisher because Microsoft’s Kinect seems to have these glitches in every game out, so I don’t dis-credit Sega for these at all.

All in all the game is amazing and of course scary as hell, I wish I could tell you to play this in the dark, but unfortunately the Kinect wouldn’t be able to read your movements. From starts to finish it’s a heart pounding thrill ride and well worth a few good play through that offer hours upon hours of play time. A great feature is that you can have a custom soundtrack, always a bonus to rock out to your own jams and take down some zombies!

Game 2 Gamer’s Final Score 3 / 5

Frustration level – Depends how “not” active you are.
