Who doesn’t remember the good ol’ coin-op arcade days? When Nintendo was in all your friends house and there was an arcade at almost every restaurant.

Well Konami brought back the original X-Men Arcade to Xbox Live Arcade. And best of all, they didn’t change a thing about it! It still has the same graphics as it did then and the made it so you don’t need to pump quarter after quarter into the thing to win!

The 6 player co-op is wonderful over Xbox Live, you don’t have to have your elbows bumping other players. The gameplay is as back then,  straight forward hack and slash. Each character has a special power, or “mutant ability” but each time you use it you drain some of your life, but hello unlimited continues!

You have 6 character’s to choose from, fan favorite Wolverine, Colosuss, Dazzler, Storm, Nightcrawler and Cyclops. Each with their own Mutant power and fighting style. You get to tear through 8 levels of play with tons of bad guys to mow down. Playing this brought back those good old day of summer fun!

Konami, we love you for porting this game over to XBLA, now how about some of the other classic coin-op arcade games? Yea, we’re waitin’ and we know you have it in you to please all us comic nerds!

If you have yet to pick this classic up your not missing much except a game you can run through in 25 minutes or under (yes, there is an achievement for it). It’s a great game for bored times. And with online multiplayer you get more out of the game. But after you beat it for the achievements it’s a game you may play with buddies when you get bored. It’s a great game, but not worth the price.

Game 2 Gamer’s Final Score 2.5 / 5

  1. I was thinking of getting it in the DotW from a couple weeks ago, but now that I look back, I’m glad I didn’t get it!
