.hack//G.U. Last Recode Shows New Features, Comparisons, A Bunch Of Character Screenshots

065

It’s been 15 years since the start of the .hack series and this year also happens to be when .hack//G.U. takes place, and with stars aligned we’re getting a remaster on PS4. Here’s a summary of what’s new.

.hack//G.U. Last Recode will have everything at much higher resolutions in full-HD 1080p with a 16:9 screen ratio, and will even support 4K resolution and 60fps gameplay.

You’ll also get to see some iconic event scenes with the improved movie resolutions (with the exception of some parts).

In addition to prettier scenes, the games are getting an increase in resolution for backgrounds and UI textures.

Shadows have also been improved to give us a better sense of reality, as well as the new anti-aliasing that smoothens out character polygons.

Next, here are some of the new features:

025

The new “Cheat Mode” is being added so that fans who already played the game and just want to revisit the scenario can go through the game with ease and no grind by starting the game with max stats in this mode.

026

Unlike the PS2 version that made you go back to the title screen upon wiping out in battle, a new “Retry” function will allow you to start the battle from the beginning.

Battle balance and tempo is another area of improvement, starting with movement speed which has been increased to make exploring easier. In order to improve on the battle tempo and make it as stress-free possible, they’ve increased the number of damage you deal to enemies. The amount of damage enemies inflict hasn’t been changed.

Another area of improvement is the hitstop reduction so that your attacks won’t feel as slow while fighting. Experience points from battles have also been increased so you can level up your party at a smoother pace. You can get the more details on game system improvements and additions in our earlier report.

Bandai Namco says they have some more new elements to announce for the remaster later.
