Alright, lets get into the game its self. The game gets docked for not having a tutorial; it just puts you right into the action. If you know nothing about Rugby and the sport then you feel lost and confused. Really should have put something in the menu or a few tips in your first game. Besides being lost the first few games and finally getting the hang of what the idea and how it works you get to enjoy the game and start to dominate.
The team and player editor is fantastic and unique idea to a sports game. You can make your team dominate and take over the league if you really need the extra help. The game flow and controls seem to be there and at times feels a tad bit sluggish, but more than often the controls are responsive enough to get the job done. The game play and season seems a little short, but that is how it is in Rugby. Luckily you can control up to all 20 teams to extend you play for that season. One of the funniest features in the game is the place-kick shootout. The idea is each team gets 5 kicks to score goals (tries) and the ball is placed at different angles and you need to get more made then the other team. Fun times and entertaining.
Sometimes the game seems to lack graphics that you came to see from other 505 Games but it’s only in cut scenes and not the actual gameplay, so that’s a plus. Rugby 2011 is a enjoyable game and is a different play every time and with the bonus of 3 different sets of commentators to switch up the feel and gameplay. This is a feature more games should have instead of the same old comments.
Final thoughts – the game flow is there and enjoyable. Rugby World Cup 2011 has the features you want even though its lacking to tell you how to play the game. 505 Games is definitely making a name for themselves with fun and unique games at a great price and a whole new way to play!
