Episode one of a five-part game series set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman’s award-winning series. Play as Lee Everett, a convicted criminal, who has been given a second chance at life in a world devastated by the undead. Experience events, meet people and visit locations that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes. A tailored game experience – actions, choices and decisions you make will affect how your story plays out across the entire series. Additional episodes available as downloadable content.
From Tell Tale Games The Walking Dead plays out in a story type mode that gives the player the ability to make choices the affect the way the other characters react and feel about you, this gives different ways that you can play the game and try different options to see the outcome of the game and different reactions.
Since the game is almost like a Dragon’s Lair type game play style it gives the player minimal control and you basically just need to react and choose a response to questions and decisions that directly impact the story and characters. With the minimal control it’s very hard not to mess up, because of this you can actually sit through the entire episode in a few hours and be done with it. Since this is a zombie game a little free roam and just good ol’ zombie killing would have been great.
For fans of the comics and TV series you can pick up the foreshadowing of the story and where it leads. You also get to meet some of the original characters from the series. The story has a great twist and a very good plot that draws the player in and easily lose track of time and leaves you waiting and wanting the next episode to drop to continue the story.
The Walking Dead is a new take on action games, like Jurassic Park it is more based on the story and giving all users the ability to play the game from start to finish with little to no frustration to the player and making a few changes throughout the plot the affects how the story is played out. All in all we feel this game is something that is giving us a taste of what’s to come!
