When Activision sets out to do something, they go big. And that’s no difference with Black Ops 4. With the Battle Royal game style taking the gaming world by storm, Activision put their own spin on it with the COD style. This is the very first Call Of Duty game without, yes, without a single player campaign. We have several different game modes to play and master, Call Of Duty broke records with the sales in mire days of being released. So Activision knows what they are doing and giving fans exactly what they want.

No campaign? Wait, what? That is correct, there is no campaign to this Call of Duty. The closest thing we get to a single player gameplay is learning how to use each character and their different tools and abilities. When doing this for each character, such as Firebreak or Torque we get small CGI cutsceens of that characters background. This can be done single player and anytime.

The good: very smooth gameplay, not much lag with bigger games in the “Blackout” mode with up to 88 players. The secondary weapons are very unique and make for a new style of gameplay. The grappling hook is truly one of the best additions to the game, being able to quickly move in closer to the enemy and catching them off guard.

The bad: you cannot turn perks off, they go until its used up. This can cause problems in different game situations and shoot outs. And if acciedently clicked on, you are stuck with it. Now we said there was no lag, but in Quads game play, this is the only game mode with some much lag and choppiness it feels that the servers might not be able to handle the game mode. Last con is unlocking characters, there is no info on how to do so and some of them are truly more difficult than they are worth.

The multiplayer mode is pretty much standard COD gameplay style, hold different areas and earn points to win the match, and of course deathmatch. Same idea, win and gain levels to earn better equipment and character styles. Isn’t much to it except it’s Black Ops style and new maps.

The new Black Ops is utterly great. So well done and so much packed into it, but we feel it is lacking without the single player campaign and with the Black Ops Pass at a price for $49.99 and that doesn’t give anything much to it, it hurts us that this game is strictly multiplayer so that effects the score of the game. It is serious fun and should be picked up by any fan or newbie of the series.
